Nine Naturals is the first premium, 100% plant-based haircare specifically formulated for mothers and mothers-to-be – yes, my ears pricked up too. I’ve just been sent some samples (really need to insert a ‘ne-nar-ne-nar-ne-nar’ at this point), and I’m thrilled to report they’re a real treat for pregnant women.
The range was created by Wall Street power player, Grace Lee, who despaired at the lack of high-performing natural products available to her when she fell pregnant. Her concise range – which also includes two body products – is free from all the usual nasties, like sulphates, parabens, phthalates, petrochemicals, DEA, synthetic fragrances, artificial preservatives, and has been formulated to treat pregnancy’s hormone-heavy hair without a single worry crossing your mind as you lather up. Ingredients like moroccan argan oil, macadamia seed oil, and cupuaçu butter replace silicones to gloss up your hair, and boy do they smell good. The essential oils they’ve selected actually ease morning sickness and fatigue – I’m now obsessed with the Citrus + Mint Nourishing Pregnancy Shampoo, and found it cleansed away excess oil, which would have been a serious bonus while I was pregnant. I imagined that since they are sulphate-free, it might not be the most pleasant texture for a shampoo (sulphates are key to foaming formulas) but I needn’t have worried – it’s like a spa moment for your hair.
UK readers can buy the products here for now, until a UK stockist is announced. Phew.
